  • Douglas Rund '67, President

    A Columbus native, Doug Rund graduated from Yale in ’67 and the Stanford University School of Medicine ‘71. He is the founder and first Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Ohio State. He served as Chief or Emergency Medical Services at Ohio State from 1977 to his retirement in 2011. He also served as President of OSU Physicians faculty group and Associate Dean of the College of Medicine. He also served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the OSU Hospital System and Board of Directors of the OSU Health Plan.

    Rund has served as President of the American Board of Emergency Medicine and President of the Association of Academic Chairs in Emergency Medicine. He has also been the recipient of the ACEP Outstanding Contribution to Education Award. He has been the author and editor of scientific articles, professional journals textbooks including his latest: A Specialty Indeed: The History of Emergency Medicine at The Ohio State University.

    He is formerly Medical Director of the Columbus Division of Fire and the Medical Director of the EMS Technology Program at Columbus State. He most recently served as Medical Director of the City of Worthington Division of Fire and EMS..
